Herbed Whole Wheat Pizza Crust
Difficulty: Easy
Prep Time: 30-60 Minutes
Number of Servings: 8
Ingredients:
2 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
2 Dry Yeast
1 Cup Warm Water
1 Teaspoon salt
2 Tablespoon garlic
2 Tablespoon Fresh Rosemary
2 Tablespoon Fresh Thyme
1/2 red onion
1 Teaspoon honey
Directions:
Mix water, yeast and honey together. Let it sit for 5 minutes, or until it is bubbly on top. Then mix in whole-wheat flour and salt. Let it rest for 20 - 30 minutes with plastic wrap over it, or until it has about doubled in size. Then punch dough down and flatten with hands. Put garlic, rosemary, thyme and red onion in center of dough and gather sides in and start kneading the dough. Once everything is incorporated, put back in bowl for another 10-20 minutes to relax the gluten in the dough so you can roll it out for pizza dough. Once 10-20 minutes has passed take dough out and use some more wheat flour if needed to get crust rolled our on pizza pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Add your ingredients and bake for another 10 minutes and it is ready to eat!!
*Another fun thing to do instead of baking it is to put it on the grill, coat one side of the dough with olive oil and put on grill for 5-7 minutes, flip, oil and cook for another 5 -7 minutes or until crust looks and feels firm.
